ECOWEEK
ACTIVITY
ECOWEEK includes a variety of activities. Since 2005 ECOWEEK has been active
in Greece, in municipalities, schools, joint events with local organizations,
joint events with academic institutions, public lectures, film screenings,
round table discussions, conferences, exhibitions, and others.
ECOWEEK maintains a variety of activities in order to attract a diverse
audience. ECOWEEK's goal is to attract attention to environmental issues
and raise public awareness in the challenges of global warming and climate
change.
In 2008 ECOWEEK is co-organizing the AIACE (American Institute of Architects
Continental Europe) Annual International Conference on 'green' architecture,
titled "Ecology
+ Environment + Architecture" 10-13 April, 2008. The conference
is held in Athens, Greece. ECOWEEK also plans to hold the premiere for the
new european production 'green' architecture documentary "Last
Call for Planet Earth", by Jacques Allard, featuring Thomas Mayne,
Massimilano Fuksas, among other 'green' architects from around the world.
In 2007 ECOWEEK opened its activities in Athens with a lecture by UK environmentalist
and explorer of the Poles ROBERT
SWAN. Activities included mostly free screenings of the Oscar-winning
documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" with Al Gore. ECOWEEK concluded
its activities for the first half of 2007 with a lecture by AL
GORE (Nobel Peace Prize, 2007) at the Athens Concert Hall, organized
with the Megaron Plus. The second half of 2007 activities started in November
with screenings of documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" in schools.
Also, included the premiere and panel discussion for the new documentary
on climate change by Leonardo DiCaprio "The 11th Hour" at the
48th International Film Festival in Thessaloniki, Greece.
In 2005 and 2006 ECOWEEK took place in Aegina and included lectures, puppet
shows for children, film screenings, an exhibition on 'green' buildings,
test-drive of Hybrid cars, activity for children and adults. A one-day beach
cleaning. A free lottery included compost bins, solar chargers for cellular
phones, and a hybrid car for a weekend.
All ECOWEEK events are free and open to the public. ECOWEEK activity is

especially in areas devasted by fires.
